Kideco Women Empowerment Day 2024

Batu Kajang – PT Kideco Jaya Agung (Kideco) places great importance on gender issues. Kideco has included gender in its 2024 Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) targets. Under the theme “Mental Health & Self-Awareness for Indonesian Women,” Kideco organized an event aimed at enhancing gender capacity through Kideco Women Empowerment Day 2024, held at the Merenda Buen Hall at the Kideco basecamp on July 25, 2024. The event also commemorated National Kebaya Day on July 24, 2024.

The event featured a seminar, a kebaya fashion show competition, the signing of a partnership agreement between Kideco and the Indonesia Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (IBCWE), an organization focused on empowering women and increasing the role of women at Kideco, as well as a joint commitment signing between the Kideco Employees’ Wives Association (Periska) and contractors.

The event was attended by all Kideco female employees, Periska members and contractors, the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group of Paser Regency, as well as The Wives’ Associations of The Military (Persit) and Police (Bhayangkari) of Paser Regency. The seminar was led by psychologist and counselor Nursini, with the theme “Mental Health & Self-Awareness,” and Clara Wita Krisanti, Executive Director of IBCWE, with the theme “Weaving Self-Awareness into Daily Life.”

Kideco’s President Director, M. Kurnia Ariawan, in his opening remarks, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening inclusive policies and gender equality in the workplace. The number of female workers has continued to increase, rising from 10% to 17% in 2023. “Kideco provides equal opportunities for both women and men at all levels. This is reflected in Kideco’s policies that promote a gender-neutral work environment”.

The Chairperson of Periska’s Kideco, Pratika Ariawan, expressed that Periska serves as the main “support system” for their husbands, who are Kideco employees, helping them fulfill their roles and responsibilities at the company. “Collaboration between Periska Kideco and work partner is also necessary to enhance individual skills and potential through activities such as entrepreneurship training to prepare for retirement”.

Indah Setyo Rini, representing the Chairperson of the PKK Paser, stated in her speech, “Many issues in communities are often related to mental health challenges, especially among women. It is hoped that through this event, participants will raise their awareness of mental health and be able to understand and explore their potential, including both strengths and weaknesses”.

Women Empowerment Day 2024 was held to raise self-awareness about the importance of women’s empowerment and mental health, as well as to foster better synergy between Kideco, work partner, and other external partners.
